CCM: Douglas County Libraries Denies Request to Remove 4 LGBTQ Books

Douglas County Libraries Board of Trustees ultimately rejected Aaron Wood’s request to remove four LGBTQ+ books from library at their August 23rd board meeting, voting that library staff followed current policies and thereby upholding the library director’s decision. Although Wood alleged in his appeal that the books promote the “destructive homosexual lifestyle,” Executive Library Director Pasicznyuk said that removing them based on their LGBTQ+ content would be illegal and against library policy. Wood and some of the trustees expressed a desire to review the library policy for selecting materials in the future. The fight for the right to read in Douglas County isn’t over yet!
